Awards Galore for Alan
I, Alan Bowers, have been playing the piano for between 32-34 years. In that time I have completed my Grades 3,4,5 and 8 and passed my Performance Diploma. I also competed in various competitive music Fesivals in and around my hometown in Leicestershire, and walked away with numerous Firsts. I have been in the North East from 1995 and in 1999 I entered my first regional festival in Ryton, Tyneside and walked away with a trophy and was asked to represent them at the Leeds Millenium Festival in 2000. I also competed in Saltburn for the first time in 1999 and achieved 4 trophies – 1 trophy for each of the 2 classes I entered and another 2 for the highest marks awarded at the Festival with a total of 97 out of 100.
On Friday 20th June this year, I entered Saltburn Festival again after such a long wait of over 10 years. I entered in two classes – Clasical Sonata Class Open and the Open Recital Class. ‘Open’ in this sense means that the class is open for any age. I played 2 pieces of music and the adjudicator awarded me 1st place in both and also 2 Certificates of Honour along with 3 trophies – see the photos. My mother was there to support me which made it that extra bit special. I could not have done this without her..Thanks Mum!
