East Dene Court
East Dene Court is situated in the seaside town in Dawdon, County Durham. The house is very spacious and benefits from extensive communal space on the ground floor and a large garden. Each person has their own bedroom that provides private en-suite facilities and rooms are decorated to their own choosing.
Everyone living at East Dene Court has autism and many also have additional difficulties and disabilities. There is a wide diversity within the group here and staff support individuals to progress at their own pace and to develop their increasing independence levels. Everyone is supported to be actively involved in the running of their home and learning new skills to increase their independence. Each person’s weekly activities reflects their individuality and they are actively encouraged to participate in their community-based and voluntary work. We access community leisure services and actively encourage individuals to lead a healthy lifestyle.
East Dene Court is a lively and comfortable home and as everyone has known each other for many years there is a real feeling of family values. We are also very fortunate to have an allotment where individuals are encouraged to grow seasonal produce to be later used in meals within the home. Many people also take full advantage of the extensive range of creative and expressive arts and social activities on offer at The Croft Centre.
Everyone greatly benefits from the 24-hour support they receive from experienced, knowledgeable and competent staff who have excellent trusting and respectful relationships with the people they support and their families. For many East Dene Court has provided a very positive stepping stone towards a more independent future.
The home is registered with the Care Quality Commission and consistently receives outstanding reports.
