The Learner Voice

Capturing and responding to “The Learner Voice” is central to improving the educational, emotional and social experience for our learners. We encourage all learners to be actively involved in shaping their own educational experience.

ESPA College actively promotes student participation and empowerment in decision-making across all aspects of college life.

How We Achieve This: Various strategies, including tutorials, committees, surveys, and reviews, provide opportunities for all learners to share their views and contribute to decision-making. Accessible methods, such as suggestion boxes and surveys, are used to gather feedback and address student concerns.

Empowerment: The student voice plays a vital role in shaping learning programs and experiences, ensuring the college can better meet individual needs.

Inclusion: Students are directly involved in reviewing key documents, contributing to curriculum planning, and participating in meetings to ensure their perspectives are always considered.

To celebrate Autism Awareness Week 2024, ESPA collaborated with students who have lived experience of being autistic to create a short film. In the film, Ben, Kayla and Michael share their perspectives on being autistic, their sensory experiences and the challenges they’ve faced and overcome.

We hope their openness inspires others to embrace their own authentic autistic identities.
